I will dominate 'credible fighter' Jake Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight round fight which will be broadcast in real-time on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "dominate completely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters confronted each other to build hype for next month's heavyweight fight.

Former two-time world heavyweight champion Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami's venue on December 19th.

Fighter's Attitude

"I'm going to injure his face and damage his physique. I'm here to prove I'm superior," the British boxer, 35 years old, stated.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I will really want to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Respectful Exchange

Despite these statements, a relaxed Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - usually recognized for his theatrics - were respectful and kept it respectful with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua rival the Cameroonian fighter and called him "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian rejected a match opportunity.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, targeted UK opponent Tyson Fury - and refused a million-pound wager 'The Gypsy King' claims he will make on a Paul victory.

"[Paul] outshines Tyson Fury - he's present here," the boxer said.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Fighter

In spite of stating he plans to hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua refused to talk badly about his rival's boxing ability.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he said.

Jake Paul's Background

Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mostly fought mixed martial artists or faded names since becoming pro.

He was defeated by Briton Fury in last year.

Financial Success

Still, the relative newcomer remains one of boxing's biggest financial successes, regularly earning substantial earnings.

Prediction and Belief

The 28 year old predicted a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and asserted he would prevent the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is allegedly under discussion for 2026.

"It will be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul met for the usual face-off, with their physical disparity evident, it highlighted just how improbable this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the bout is truly going ahead.
